Hey groover, I never truly HEARD Bob for the first couple years of my Dead listening!

Something I like to do while listening to music is to pick one of the band members to follow and pay attention to how the rest of the band falls into place around them. Now shift your perspective to a different player and see how the music sounds different from that angle. This is especially fun to do during live shows!

Also, another thing that helps if you are using headphones to listen to GD music is to pick up to which side Jerry and Bobby are mixed. I think usually Jerry is right and Bobby is left. That's the way it is in this lovely show: http://www.archive.org/details/gd1973-06-22.sbd.miller.88526.sbeok.flac16

Check out Bird Song and listen to what Bobby is doing in the left channel. Hope this Weirs you out.
